What is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine is an emerging and rapidly advancing field focused on repairing and rejuvenating damaged tissue through various therapeutic methods, including the use of adult mesenchymal stem cells. It emphasizes natural healing processes.
What to Expect During the Procedure?
First, an ISCMC stem cell specialist will review your medical history, perform a physical exam, and assess any imaging studies. Next, all your questions will be addressed. During the procedure, stem cells are administered intravenously and may also be injected into specific sites based on the medical condition. This takes place in a specialized room with experienced professionals. The entire process typically lasts less than 60 minutes. Patients remain comfortably awake throughout, and sedation or local anesthetic is only used in special circumstances. Most patients report minimal to no pain during the procedure.
Who Performs My Procedure?
Our medical center is staffed by a highly experienced team of doctors educated in the United States. Our lead physicians are pioneers in various stem cell treatments and research. They are dedicated to their work, and all patient care is provided or supervised by licensed, knowledgeable physicians.
Each patient’s case is reviewed individually by our team, and based on this evaluation, we select the physician whose specialty best matches your needs.
What Are the Potential Benefits of an IV Stem Cell Infusion?
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are the most extensively studied stem cells in the body, with thousands of peer-reviewed research articles published in recent years. Much of this research focuses on the potential of MSCs to treat autoimmune diseases such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, asthma, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, lupus, and fibromyalgia, among others.
The studies typically involve administering MSCs through an IV. Once in the bloodstream, MSCs travel to the capillaries in the lungs, where they engage in paracrine communication—essentially, they “talk” to other cells. After leaving the lungs, MSCs are drawn to areas of inflammation, allowing them to concentrate in these focal points. This process enables MSCs to send signals that help modulate the immune system and reduce inflammation. Research indicates that intravenously infused MSCs may offer significant anti-inflammatory benefits.
How Long Do the Therapeutic Effects of a Stem Cell Procedure Last, and Will I Need a Follow-Up Procedure?
The duration of the therapeutic effects from a stem cell procedure can vary, and it’s difficult to predict exactly how long they will last. Depending on the clinical condition, stem cell therapy may be repeated at intervals to enhance its effectiveness. For instance, IV infusions for anti-aging, wellness, and life prolongation may be administered up to four times a year. For neurodegenerative disorders, stem cells may be given 2 to 4 times a year, depending on the severity and nature of the disease. Musculoskeletal disorders may be treated with a single injection or may require repeat treatments as needed.
Based on our experience, about 5% of patients opt for a second stem cell procedure within two years of the first. A second procedure does not increase any associated risks and often provides additional relief. If a patient does not achieve satisfactory results within three months of the initial procedure, considering a second treatment is advisable.
Which Medications Should I Avoid Before My Procedure?
Unless you are only undergoing the IV infusion procedure, you should discontinue all blood-thinning medications for several days prior to your stem cell procedure. This includes all heparin products, Plavix, Coumadin, and NSAIDs such as Motrin, Naprosyn, Celebrex, and adult-strength aspirin. A low-dose baby aspirin is acceptable. You will receive guidance on when you can resume your medications after the procedure.
When Can I Return to Normal Activities After the Joint Procedure?
We recommend resting for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. Most patients experience soreness for a day or two. Walking is encouraged as soon as it feels comfortable. Gradually increase your activities over the following weeks. Most individuals can return to normal activities within six weeks after the procedure. However, recovery times can vary for each patient. Post-procedure chiropractic or physical therapy may help expedite your recovery.
Will My Insurance Cover This Procedure?
Currently, regenerative medicine is not covered by insurance plans. However, we offer various payment solutions to help our patients manage the cost of treatment. Please feel free to reach out for more details on our financing options.
What Is the Cost of Treatment?
Treatment costs vary depending on the extent of therapy needed. Our stem cell counselors will provide a detailed outline of costs and options tailored to your specific condition.

How Are Stem Cell Therapies Administered?
At Jax Medi Spa, therapy protocols are customized for each patient based on their specific condition and physical health. The primary methods of delivery include:
Intravenous (IV)
This is the safest method for administering stem cells throughout the body. While anesthesia is not needed, a topical numbing agent may be applied to reduce any discomfort from the IV.
Intraarticular (IA)
Stem cells are injected directly into the affected joints, often using ultrasound guidance. Anesthesia is not necessary, and most patients experience little to no discomfort after the procedure.
Intramuscular (IM)
In this method, stem cells are injected directly into the muscle. Intramuscular delivery is safe and allows for more precise targeting of the affected area. IM treatments do not require anesthesia.
How Long Will It Take to See Results?
Each treatment and patient is unique, so results can vary widely and there are no guarantees regarding the speed or extent of improvement. Some patients report noticing changes during their treatment or within a few days to weeks, while others may see improvements within six months after returning home. It’s also possible for some patients not to experience any improvement following treatment.
